Weathering

Weathering a model is an incredibly personal service. Whether you opt for light, medium, or heavy weathering, the quality of the service is the same – we don’t compromise on quality.

The cost of weathering a loco, wagon, etc. is the same across the board and everything we weather receives a full wheel service.

This means we clean the wheels and pickups and then perform a test on our test track before returning the job to you to ensure smooth and reliable performance.

We will create a bespoke pricing package for each customer to ensure that you get the best value. We are also happy to work from a customer’s photo to match the model closely to the real thing.

Modifications

Couplings – we can supply and fit standard MEM couplings or magnetic couplings. We supply and fit three link, screw link, bar couplings, or standard tension locks. WE can also supply and fit magentic and Kadee couplings at your request. The choice is yours!

Magnetic and Kadee couplings: £10 for one end, £15 for both
Bar, 3 link and screw link couplings: £10 for one end, £15 for both

Real coal loads – we can supply and fit real coal loads to your wagons to give that extra realism. Our coal loads are hand ground to your specification from chunks the loco to fine power station coal. Small bags of coal are available to purchase for you to apply yourself.

Crew fitting – we supply and fit footplate crew to your specifications.

Lamps specific to type of train (reporting code): £5 per lamp
Buffer beam detail packs (manufacturer supplied): Fitted £15 per end)
Fabricated buffer beam detail: £25 per end

Renumbering: £10 per set; if your loco has 2 number sets, this would be £20. If you have a steam loco with cab side number either side plus smoke box, £30. Pre TOPS diesel requiring 4 number sets: £40. TOPS loco with two number sets: £20.

Naming / renaming: Rename both sides: £25
Fit manufacturer supplied name plates: £20 for both sides.
